NEWS FLASH!

Just before the February  half term we entered a poetry competition in Year 1. Everyone wrote a poem using the senses and we were really proud of them! We then sent them off to the Young Writer's Competition.

Since then, we have had an envelope back only to find that 21 of the poems were chosen to be published in a poetry anthology. WOW!

Everyone who entered was commended for their hard work and fantastic poems, but well done to those whose poems are going to be published.

Look out for the book in school!

Science: Mystery seeds!

We have been learning to use our observational skills to help us answer questions.

We have been looking at some mystery seeds and trying to guess what they will grow into.We looked closely at the colour and size and then thought about how we could watch them grow and then we planted them in soil and have put them by the window in the classroom.

Have a look at some of our pictures to see if they are growing... but we still don't know what they are! We will have to wait until the flowers and fruit grows.

Science: What do plants look like?

We have been learning about plants and what they look like. We have watched a video of seeds growing and have looked carefully at the different parts of plants.

We then had the challenge of creating our own plant and sorting out what different parts there were and what jobs they had.
