DT - making our product

Wednesday
21.03.12

It has been a very busy day today!

We have spent the afternoon developing our DT skills by learning how to follow our plans to create our product.

First we had to create a paper template using our designs to guide us. We had to use a ruler so draw it carefully and then we cut it out.
Then, we rolled out a small piece of icing and laid our template in top.

Carefully using the knife we cut out our design. This bit was hard and we really had to concentrate.

To finish it off, we choose our medal, again using our design to guide us and stuck the icing on using a little bit of water to help it stick.

DT - designing our ideas

We spent a very busy afternoon designing our ideas for our product!

We had to use our results from our questionnaires to help us design our product. This year we are making chocolate medals with London landmarks on to celebrate London.

Making our medals using moulds

Putting them in the fridge to set

Some of our designs.
We had to label them with the colour, shape and land mark

Maths - action research!

Tuesday
20.03.12

Today we have been thinking a little bit more about our product and how we can find out what other people think about it.

We came up with some questions that would help us find out:
  1. What colour medal would you buy?
  2. What shape medal would you buy?
  3. How much would you pay for it?
We then divided into groups and designed a table to collect our results in. We then went around different classes to ask what people thought.

We are going to use our results to help us design our ideas!
