Science - Making predictions and conclusions

This week in our topic work, we wanted to find out about different clocks.

We looked at lots of different types of clocks and decided if they were old or new and what they were used for.
We didn't know what a pocket watch was used for and we found it a bit tricky to decide if they were old or new.

We then started to find out a bit about water clocks and sand timers. We all made one but the real skill was trying to make a scientific prediction.

We had to think carefully and use 'I predict that ...' It was quite hard but then we had to observe the experiment to see if our predictions were right.

In the water clock activity we recorded our results in a table and then had to try and decide which pot took the shortest time and which pot took the longest time.

We also learnt about candle clocks and what they might have been used for.

Some great science this week!

PE - Gymnastics

In  our PE we have been developing our gymnastic skills. We have learnt to balance in different ways,
explored different types of rolls, learnt how to carry weight in different ways and explored ways of travelling.

We then had to put a short sequence together using 3 balances, 2 different rolls and different ways of travelling.

Now, we need to work on how we present our sequences so they look as good as the amount of work that has gone into them!

Science - Using our senses to observe scientific wonders

We wanted to know how day changes into night as part of our topic of Time.

We started by looking at the sun and Earth in space and thought about what we could see and what was happening.

We then used the basket ball to represent the Earth and a torch to represent the sun.

We put ourselves on the Earth and then had to try and make us move from day light to night time.
